Translated pages keep resetting (to English default) – how to prevent this?

Hi everyone,

We’re currently building our new multilingual webshop in Shopware for v-sure.eu. Our default language is English, and we’re actively translating pages into Dutch, French, and German.

However, we keep running into a frustrating issue: translated pages (CMS pages, product descriptions, etc.) regularly revert to their original English version or an earlier saved version. This happens even after we’ve carefully updated the content, including formatting like heading sizes and paragraph structure. In some cases, entire sections are reset.

Our process:

  • We first create and format the page in English.
  • We then translate it in the corresponding language tabs.
  • Everything looks fine initially, but after some time (or after other edits in the English version), translations are completely overwritten.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a known fix, or a way to lock translations so they don’t get reset by changes in the default language?

Any tips, configuration suggestions, or plugin recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I have never seen that behavior. Which browser do you use? Any plugins that might change the Administration?

I happened several times. Also with the homepage going back to older versions…
I use Chrome.
It occured when there were no plugins installed as well.

Do you know the difference between CMS templates and their assigned forms, such as those for categories or products?

CMS templates act as placeholders. Once assigned to a category or product, you can override these placeholders. After assignment, changing the original template may have no effect on the already assigned version. It can be a bit tricky to understand at first.

You can lock a template via the database, but not a single language.

Thanks for your reply!

Yes, we are indeed working with the assigned versions of the CMS pages — we always edit the content directly in the context of the assigned category or product, not in the original template.

That’s why we’re quite surprised to see that a large number of translations have suddenly disappeared, even on pages we haven’t touched in days. These translations seem to have reverted to the default English content or have been lost entirely.

We’re not sure what triggered this — it feels like a reset happened somewhere in the background, but we didn’t make any global changes to the templates.

Is this a known issue in Shopware? Or could there be something misconfigured that causes assigned translations to be overwritten?

Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!
