Bei mir lief das Update nun auch über den Composer durch.  
Warum es weder über die Datei, noch über das Backend funktioniert hat, bleibt für mich jedoch ein Rätsel.

… warum einfach, wenn es auch „kompliziert“ geht.

Bei mir wird im Backend auch kein Update angeboten. „Du bist auf dem aktuellsten Stand.“ mit 6.5.0.0  
Geht es nicht mehr über das Backend zu updaten?

Ich vermute, dass es im Backend kein Update findet, wenn die Composer Version fest drin ist. Wenn man ein Wildcard drin hat, findet es alle Versionen die im Wildcard sind.

Also z.B. ^6.5.\* für alle 6.5er Versionen 🙂

Habe ich eben mal getestet, bei 1/2 Instanzen lag es daran
