# How long does an update from 6.7.4.0 to 6.7.4.2 take?

Our webmaster has indicated that the website will be offline for several hours because a Shopware update needs to be installed.
The current Shopware version is 6.7.4.0 and needs to be updated to 6.7.4.2
How long will this take?
The shop has approximately 460 items.

In general, the duration depends on your setup.
It can range from just a few seconds (with CI) to several hours (when done manually).
Updating from 6.7.4.0 to 6.7.4.2 should not take more than a few minutes, even if performed manually.
For manual setups, additional time is usually needed for tasks like backups.
However, I personally wouldn’t take the shop offline for that.

Yesterday I updated one of my client shop from shopware version 6.7.4.0 to 6.7.4.2 in just 5-6 minutes.

Why would the database be not correct? There is no need to check the database after an update (if no errors were thrown).

I don’t know. It doesn’t seem necessary to me without errors. But he is convinced that he has to do it. He has other unclear convictions regarding the website.
